On Thursday 9.2.2012 the prestigious cultural institution Club Siglo XXI hosted an interesting debate on “21st Century Youngsters and the Best-Seller Phenomenon” with Javier Moro (the Planeta awarded El Imperio eres tú, 2012) and Maria Dueñas (El tiempo entre costuras, 2009) as special guests. The discussion focused mainly on whatever makes a book evolve into a best-seller, speaking of which both authors stressed the idea that “….it is not all about a well orchestrated story or product launch, but some further ingredient that makes people talk and therefore, recommend it. Some books are for ever, and some others are “day lilies.” The capability to convey emotions to final readers is a key-factor for success in Javier’s opinion. The discussion was followed by many different questions, like for example:” What do you feel when you finish a book? How long does it take to write a book?” Both Javier and Maria kindly illustrated their answers with different experiences sometimes fun, tragic some other, which made the evening eminently amusing.

Paloma Segrelles, at present Director of the Club’s Youngsters Commission moderated the event. The journalist Guillermo Altares was in charge of introduction and coordination.

Club Siglo XXI is a prestigious cultural association known by organising events around the cultural, political and social Spanish sceneries. It was founded in 1969 in Madrid.
